The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, June 18, 2013 - 6:00 p.m. in Merrill.
The much anticipated presentation from the Fairgrounds User Group will attempt to give the county supervisors more information on the proposed Expo Center at the Lincoln County fairgrounds.
This Expo Center is intended to replace the grandstands at the fairgrounds. This building is designed to be used throughout the year. Supporters say the Expo Center would host many different events not offered in Lincoln County like; Motocross shows, Winter cross, Truck and Tractor Pulls as well as concerts, horse or dog shows and RV or Sporting Shows. The proposed Expo Center is expected to be the largest venue outside of Milwaukee, Madison or Green Bay. The arena floor would measure 150 by 250 feet and have a capacity of close to 3600, if a concert was held, close to 6000 people could enjoy the event.
Opponents of the Expo Center claim the 7+ Million Dollar price tag will be a burden on the Lincoln County Tax payer. When the old grandstand was demolished, Lincoln County received an insurance payment in the amount of 453,858 dollars from the insurance company, the final maximum payment would be 924-thousand dollars for a total of 1 Million 377 Thousand dollars.
Tonight’s County Board Meeting starts at 6pm in the Lincoln County Service Center on Sales Street in Merrill.
