Deer More Active in June

Posted at 5:14 AM

All drivers – especially motorcyclists – are being cautioned to keep a sharp eye out for deer along roadways. At this time of year, does search for places to give birth and young deer separate from their mothers.

While fall is the peak period for crashes between deer and motor vehicles, June is typically the worst month when it comes to motorists being injured in deer/vehicle crashes. The best advice for motorists: Buckle-up, watch your speed, and be especially alert in early morning and evening hours when deer are most active.

Last year in Wisconsin, of the 12 fatal crashes between deer and motor vehicles, 11 involved motorcycles.
