Two Merrill residents are in the Lincoln County Jail facing multiple charges after they were caught stealing from property in the Town of Pine River.
Just after 8:00 AM Sunday, a Wausau man called 9-1-1 to report seeing a suspicious vehicle at County Rd. P and County Rd. W and the suspects were possibly stealing. When the reporting party followed the truck the driver tried to lose the caller. And when he turned into a driveway on Cain Creek Rd. at State Rd. 64, the caller blocked the suspect in. At that time the suspect started ramming the caller’s vehicle in an attempt to escape. Deputies arrived minutes later and took 36 year old Scott R. Martin and 25 year old Stephanie S. Stamper into custody.
Martin was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of theft and four counts of felony bail jumping for violating terms of bonds on pending cases in Lincoln County Court. Stamper was booked in on charges of party to a crime of theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two felony counts of bail jumping for violating terms of bonds in pending cases in Lincoln County Court. Stamper had previously been released on signature bonds after being charged with numerous crimes many of which were drug charges. Both will be held for bond hearings on Monday in Lincoln County Court.
