Record Breaking Heat

It was a record 4th of July for heat in our area, new records were set in Wausau when the high hit a record 96degrees eclipsing the old mark of 95 set in 1999, Stevens Point topped 97 degrees which tied the high set in 1935, Marshfield hit 96 replacing the former high of 95 set in 1990, finally, Wisconsin Rapids sweltered at 102 degrees replacing the old high of 97 set in 1949…

Heat advisory remains in effect until 10 PM CDT Thursday. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-90s Thursday with heat indices around 100. Heat indices that high could result in heat-related illnesses  if precautions are not taken. Symptoms such as dizziness, weakness and fatigue are early warning signs that should not be ignored. The onset of heat stroke can be rapid and may progress to life-threatening illness within minutes. Serious cases require emergency medical care.
