A fourteen year old boy from Lake Zurich, IL suffered minor injuries after striking a tree with a snowmobile Friday evening in the Town of Bradley.
A cell 911 call reported the crash north of County Rd U on the Hiawatha Trail at 7:10 PM. According to the Rec. Deputy who investigated the crash; Erik A. Hirt was driving a snowmobile north on the trail, as he rode with family members a southbound sled blinded the youth by having its bright light on. Hirt traveled over to the side of the trail to avoid the sled when he struck a tree. Hirt was removed from the woods by Deputies and Tomahawk Firefighters, he was transported by Tomahawk EMS to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital. The Spirit II helicopter also responded as a precaution but Hirt’s injuries were not life threatening and he was treated and released from Ministry Sacred Heart.
