It's a snowy start to 2012 in the Merrill area, and there is a wind advisory in effect until midnight Sunday for Lincoln County. The National Weather Service is forecasting scattered snow showers or flurries, blowing and drifting snow. pushed by a northwest wind 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 45 mph.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for five eastern Wisconsin counties until noon today. Snow and blowing snow is forecast for Dodge, Fond du Lac, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Washington counties, with one to two inches of accumulation expected. A wind advisory is in effect for all of southeastern Wisconsin through midnight, with a steady wind of 25 to 35 miles per hour. Meteorologists say gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour are possible.
