Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies reported the resident was cooking and disposed of some hot grease in a garbage can located in the garage. That can caught fire and the resident tried to douse the grease with water which intensified the blaze which started some insulation in the garage on fire. When Merrill Firefighter arrived, the flames had engulfed the garage and spread to the house.
Both structures are believed to be a total loss.
