Merrill Schools Confirm Whooping Cough

Several cases of whooping cough or pertussis have been confirmed in the Merrill school district. In a letter sent home to parents, The Lincoln County Health Department and MAPS have been working side by side to try and minimize the spread of this illness.

Symptoms of pertussis include running nose, possible low-grade fever and a mild but irritating cough lasting 1-2 weeks. Area hospitals and clinics have been notified and are receiving regular updates.

The Lincoln County Health Department reminds Parents, now is a good time to review your child immunization records and make sure everything is up to date.
