Saturday, April 5th to 12th
Scouting for Food. Local Boy Scouts will place bags at your doorstep on the 5th. You are encouraged to fill the bag with non-perishable food and/or personal and household care items and place it back on your doorstep for pickup on the 12th. All donations will be kept local and donated to the Merrill Community Food Pantry. For details, contact the Samoset Council at 1-800-303-2195 or go to samoset.org.
Saturday, April 12th
Easter Egg Hunt at the Gleason Community Club at 10 a.m. Ages 1 to 10 invited for candy, prizes and drawings.
Children's Festival at the Smith Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bike Rodeo, build a birdhouse, door prizes, face painting, caricatures and food. Free admission.
The Merrill Historical Society will be holding it's fourth annual Antique Appraisal Event at the new and remodeled Historical Society Building & Culture Centre. Mr. Mark Moran, a nationally known antique appraiser, former editor of several well known East Coast antique magazines, collections editor for Krause Publications in Iola, WI for 25 yrs., editor of several best selling antique books, and guest expert appraiser on PBS's series Antique Road Show will be doing the appraisals. Please call the MHS at 715-536-5652 to schedule your appraisal time. Each item appraised will be $15.
Sunday, April 13th
The Merrill Eagles #584 is sponsoring a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Club House. Regular and potato pancakes will be served. Proceeds will be given to Rob Thompson to help defray medical costs.
Saturday, April 19th
Easter Egg Hunt at Lions Park at 10 a.m. Different age groups will be on different diamonds with one Easter basket given away for each age group. Bring a camera to get pictures with the Easter Bunny and dress appropriately. Rain or shine.
Tuesday, April 22nd
Ladies Lifestyle Expo at the Smith Center. Food and drinks available. All proceeds will go to non-profit organizations.
Tuesday, April 29th
Merrill Area Concert Series presents The Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass. Merrill High School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, May 7th
Social Media Presentation at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Merrill Area Public Schools will be hosting Justin Patchin, a nationally known speaker and Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, who will be talking to students, parents, and community members about social media and cyberbullying. This free presentation provides a broad overview of the adolescent technological concerns, including social networking Web sites and cyberbullying. Thursday, May 22nd
AMVETS Post 2000 will hold their Grill, Meat & Cash Raffle. Need not be present to win. $10 each. Drawing to be held at Christ United Methodist Church 300 N. Mill St.
